If anyone here happens to wander into nedroid.com, you would recognize this as the write-in he posted recently, that I have added text to with Paint. The thing is, LiveJournal doesn't seem to like it, so I will post it on my blog first and see if I can weave my way through the electronic forest here.Friday, March 20, 2009

AND NOW! FOR MY SELF-PORTRAIT!
Yes, the moment someone reading my blog has been waiting for... The self-portrait I did for my Art class, that later became a relief carving, and print. But this is simply the drawing. And the reason I'm comfortable placing drawings of myself on the internet is simple, I don't think they look much like me. So go ahead, creepy pedophiles on my blog, try and find me with my drawing! Well, without another moment for me to start some rant, I shall place it on my blog.

AREN'T I LOVELY! (Vervada: Who are you and what have you done with Aletta?) Thanks for that. Really needed that comment. Well, I'm off to write and other things!

SOWER Week
I HAVE RETURNED!!! I was out in Bethesda, Ohio for the duration of the week, staying at SOWER work camp with my church youth group, in Epworth Park, if anyone knows where to find that, you can have a cookie. (Artemis: I KNOW WHERE IT IS! Can I have a cookie now?) No.
Okay, as I was saying, we were there for the week, and worked 4 of those days, and Wednesday we went to Dickinson's Cattle Ranch. Yes, it's in Ohio, and it's the largest cattle ranch in the nation. It's extremely surprising, considering I never took Ohio for a ranching state. There were three types of cows, and I only remember one of them, because they were the majority of their herd. Longhorn cattle. There was also another kind that originated in Africa, and the bull there had a stroke, and his head is seriously tilted. But he would eat out of your hand, and that was awesome.
We also went to Barkcamp State Park after the Cattle Ranch. I went out hiking with some of the first time trip-goers. It was a little crazy loud at times, but all over good fun.
On the other days, I was working my butt off on the work projects they gave us. Monday, I dug 3 foot deep holes for posts to start a ramp. Tuesday, I worked on roofing a house across the street from a school. Thursday, I stayed at the camp to dig a 4 foot deep hole for a telephone post. Friday, I took out a storm door and regular door, then put in a new door for the cook lady's house, then after lunch, I went back to the camp to roof one of the cabins.
After all that work, was the traditional goodbye ceremony, where you wash someone's feet, have communion, and the goodbye circle. This is the part where everyone cries and hugs everyone else, even my older brother, who is a senior. He doesn't cry alot, and I was amazed he cried. Okay, not really. He was leaving, and probably not coming back on the trip.
I'd also like to note that Colin needs to use his brain, on the off chance he finds this blog and reads this post. Or someone can tell him that, if you know who he is. And also poke him repeatedly.
OKAY! See ya later. Next week, I'm posting my awesome self-portrait! Be here for it!

I am such a horrible person
(Vervada: You are. Abandoning these poor readers.... Shame on you.) Yeah, Yeah.
SO, my friend has gotten me to read the Artemis Fowl GRAPHIC NOVEL. Yes, the wonderful Artemis Fowl novel series, has gone graphic. (Artemis:......) NOT LIKE THAT! Though, Holly especially has some rather... impressive cleavage going on in the graphic novel. Honestly, I don't know what problems artists have against the B and A cup. What, can't women have small breasts and be beautiful too!? (Artemis: YOU GO GIRL!) YEAH! Men are pigs.... Except Myanz and those that have no interest in girls at all. The rest are pigs, because I know they all secretly want a big breasted girl....
BACK TO TOPIC! The characters look very different from what I expected. Julia was pretty good, since her breasts seem fairly normal to me. (Vervada: And you're looking at their breasts why?) Oh please, I know you were looking too. *sticks out tongue at Vervada* But poor Bulter looked more like some kind of dumb bodybuilder guy, with a tiny head and gigantic body. And FOALY looked ridiculous. He was supposed to have a tin hat on his head, and the comic (Vervada: ahem, graphic novel...) Yeah, if it's a novel why could I finish it in half a day?.... so the comic said he had a tin hat on, but the hat just looked like part of his hair. it was basically the exact same color as his hair. i personally would have made some more distintion other than the mentioning of the hat. And then ending, I don't think that was the entire first book.. just like the majority of it.
Okay, I'm going to leave now. OH, but I'd like to mention my profile on Fanfiction.net. My penname is Aletta-Artemis-Vervada. Check out my two fics, if you'd like a taste of the novella I've been tempted to post here, check out HACD. Well, now it's gone, because nobody seemed to like it. The other is a Bleach fanfic, if you follow the manga or anime. Enjoy! And Good Night!

Aletta is still a bad girl.
(Vervada: *smacks Aletta*) (Artemis: That wasn't nice of you! Aletta has her own problems to deal with.) Thanks both of you.
OKAY! Saturday, I burned myself at the church carwash and Sunday I had chores to do. Those are my excuses. BUT I HAVE MY SELF PORTRAIT! And some random doodles too, but I'll post those later. I will try and find my good self portrait with shadow and all that good stuff, but until then, HERE IT IS!

I'm sorry....
I haven't been a good girl and posting every weekend, and I apologize for that.
I'll just have to post tomorrow, since I haven't posted yesterday, and more importantly, I have nothing for you on this computer. Tomorrow, or Sunday, depending on my schedule, I shall have a doodle of mine for you. Or my self portrait thingy.... Next on my list of things to do is to decide which to do...

Depressing Books I've read since I last posted.
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.
Summary: Without spoiling the story, it's about this girl who has no friends and seems to be afraid of something. The entire story is her slowly coming to realize what it is that she's afraid of and why she's such an outcast.
My Opinion: I can relate to the outcast part, being, well, me. (Artemis: AWwww.. *glomps Aletta*) Thanks, I think. The story is AMAZINGLY well written, and I don't think there is a person in the world who hasn't felt like an outcast in at least one part of their life. And her outlook of her school and teachers provides good humor to keep readers from bawling into the book and ruining the pages.
The Earth, My Butt, and other Big Round Things by Carolyn Mackler
Summary: Again, without spoiling, it's about a plus-size girl who lives with perfect people, skinny, well read, French speaking, everyone loves them. The story is this girl's transformation from a neutral wearing, rule following girl with a boyfriend nobody else knows about to her own person after a huge incident spoiling her older brother's reputation.
My Opinion: Don't let the goofy title fool you, this can be fairly sad. I can understand her outlook of herself, but not always her way of living, especially when dealing with her kinda-boyfriend. The really sad part is when she's in between her old self and new self, where she burned her finger at one point and otherwise hurt herself. I was mislead by the title when I got this book.
Cut by Patricia McCormick
Summary: This one's a little hard not to spoil, plot-wise. The story is of a girl in a psychiatric ward because she cuts herself and while there, stops talking, getting her the nickname ST, for Silent Treatment. The story places you as the her counselor, which I found an interesting thing to do, since I am no psychiatrist, obviously.
My Opinion: Whatever it lacks in plot, in gains in mounds and mounds with character. The bulimic girls, the truly insane cutter-girl Amanda, the asthmatic younger brother and many others. These minor characters are so deep, you could relate to any of them and that's what's great about them. The writer has a great sense of what goes on in people's minds and I swear if I hadn't been reading the entire book in school, I would have cried like a baby. (Vervada: She doesn't cry that often, and definitely not like a baby) It is THAT depressing.
And those are the books I've read since last posting here. If you are looking for a sad book to read, those are some fairly good choices. If you're looking for a happier topic, tell me if you find one, because I would like one.
